Ratings & Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT TIRE, with one minor exception. I use this tire on my daily driver 2010 Toyota Prius, mostly for commuting to and from work about 17 miles each way. These tires ride and handle considerably better than the Michelin Defenders I previously had on the car, and they definitely track straighter! The Defenders tended to wander all over the road and would not hold a straight line without having to pay pretty close attention to the steering wheel, which was super annoying. I would say the Cross Climate tires handle more like a high performance tire and they also have some of the noise characteristics of high performance tires. It doesn't bother me, but I could see where some people might not like the slight "hum" that they produce. My hybrid produces a hum of it's own, so it basically just blends in with that and I don't notice it too much. The one downfall or negative of this tire would be that I lost a few miles per gallon when switching to them, despite what other people have mentioned about that in reviews. Not the optimum for a fuel efficient hybrid, but the trade off of having a safe tire in all weather conditions that handles well is fine with me. When they were new for the first few weeks it was obvious that it took more power for the car to get up to speed from a dead stop or when climbing hills due to the higher rolling resistance of the CrossClimates compared to the Defenders and the OEM Yokohama Avids I had on the car prior to them. That part has gotten better now that they have a thousand miles or more on them, though. Overall, a great tire if you want to keep your family safe and want a great ride and handling! Just beware of the lower fuel mileage aspect due to the higher rolling resistance, if that's an important factor in your tire buying decision. But then, they're not advertised as a fuel efficient tire either. Otherwise, fantastic tire and my car rides considerably better that it did with the Defenders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An unusual design that lives up to billing. With nine months and about 5,000 miles on these tires I can now give a reasonable assessment of them and the news is extremely good. These are probably the quietest all-season tires I've used and certainly have the best all round grip. I have them on a 2014 Chevy Sonic, which originally came with Hancook H427 tires--a terrible design that's at least somewhat quiet, acceptable for grip in dry conditions but totally miserable in everything else. I quickly switched those for Nokian WRG3 which were excellent on ice and also very good in dry snow, a little more questionable in wet snow and poor in the rain, and directionally good but a bit lacking in forward traction in the dry. The CrossClimates are almost as good as the Nokians on ice and dry snow and better in every other use case, and much quieter than the Nokians and even as quiet as the Hankooks. Effectively you have what's all bar the price of argument a summer tire pattern, but winter-rated and capable. They have also held up very well with no adjustments needed on balance and no indication of trouble on alignment. For an excellent, true all-season, all-weather, all-use-case car or crossover tire, look no further. Only strike against it is the immense amount of time Michelin seems to be taking in getting a full selection of sizes out on the US market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly extremely happy with choice This tire has exceeded my expectations.I had a set installed in Oct 2019 on my 2005 Lincoln Town Car in Fargo, ND. The next day I had to drive 350 miles home to Beach, ND next to the Montana line in a major ice/snow storm that blanketed the NW US. The road conditions changed fast to an inch of ice. Cars and SUVs were quickly in the medians with some roll overs interstate 94. I never lost traction and had to use the untraveled left lane on many occasions to pass traffic that was struggling with control issues. I also drive 120 miles a day roundtrip to work, up and down hills through the Badland of ND in the National Park, without issue in the extreme ND winter. I trust the performance of my cross climate tires on my Lincoln as much as I do my Hybrid Prius AWD. In the winter of 2018/19, I would not drive my Lincoln because it was rear wheel drive in the winter (very squirrelly). I am looking forward to see if they hold up in the summer so I do not have to change out snow times every spring and fall to make them last through the heat of summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing cold wet weather traction Denver metro area Have I then on a truck I drive occasionly at work there An amazing traction tire it seems like an ice tire that can only be ran in the wintertime but this is truly an all season tire. The grip and the control is unprecedented. Tried to buy them for my personal pick up and they don't make them in my size, I'm so disappointed. I'm optimistic that they will have them, in my size by Winter 2020 when I'm absolutely going to need tires

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mountain Snowflake Symbol indeed! We experienced a significant winter storm in Wisconsin while traveling for Thanksgiving 2019. With this trip in mind, we installed four CrossClimate + tires on a FWD Corolla a month earlier. Winter weather performance is exceptional! We crawled straight up steep slippery roads. Icy starts from a dead stop were effortless. Braking on snow was predictable. Snowy highway curves, hills and crosswinds didn't bother us. Also, these tires feel tight and sure on wet or dry roads, and with minimal road noise. Year around Performance-All-Season fans, this is your next tire.
