Riding the Spirit of Route 66 with Harley-Davidson

There are few roads as iconic as Route 66. Stretching across America’s heartland, it has long represented freedom, adventure and the joy of the open road. For Michelin, that spirit feels especially familiar. Since our earliest days developing tires for bicycles in the late 1800s, we have been driven by a simple purpose: helping people go farther, explore more and experience the journey with confidence.

That shared passion for exploration is what made our partnership with Harley-Davidson such a natural fit.

As excitement builds around the Route 66 Centennial and the road to America’s 250th anniversary, Michelin and Harley-Davidson came together to celebrate a piece of Americana that continues to inspire riders around the world. More than a collaboration between two iconic brands, it was an opportunity to honor the culture, heritage and experiences that make motorcycle travel so meaningful.

To bring that story to life, we partnered with motorcycle travelers and content creators Gaylin and Lance of 2LaneLife, sending them on a journey across Route 66. Rather than following a scripted itinerary, they experienced the route as riders do—embracing unexpected discoveries, memorable roadside stops and the simple thrill of the open highway.

Through their perspective, Route 66 unfolded in a way that felt authentic and personal. From long stretches of desert road to vibrant small-town destinations, every mile told a story. Their journey captured the moments that make motorcycle travel unforgettable: sunrise departures, conversations with fellow riders and the sense of possibility that comes with every turn of the road.

One of the most memorable stops came in Chicago at the beginning of the trip. There, the ride connected with another side of Michelin’s heritage through a visit to Lou Mitchell’s, a Michelin-recognized restaurant. The moment highlighted something uniquely Michelin—our connection to both mobility and gastronomy, two worlds rooted in helping people discover and enjoy extraordinary experiences.

Of course, every great adventure relies on confidence in the ride itself. Throughout the journey, Michelin Commander III tires carried the riders across thousands of miles of changing roads and conditions. Designed for long-distance performance and durability, the tires became a trusted part of the experience, allowing the focus to remain where it belongs: on the journey ahead.

What makes this partnership special is the way it connects past and present. Route 66 remains a powerful symbol of freedom and exploration, while Harley-Davidson continues to inspire generations of riders to chase new horizons. Together, our brands share a commitment to enabling unforgettable journeys and creating experiences that endure long after the ride is over.

As we celebrate the legacy of Route 66, we are reminded that Michelin’s story has always been about movement. From bicycles to motorcycles and beyond, our mission remains unchanged: helping people travel with confidence, discover new places and make the most of every adventure.

Because sometimes, the best part of the journey is simply the road itself.
