Defender 2 tires are great!

We are very pleased with the Michelin Defender 2 tires that we just purchased for our Ford Escape Titanium. This vehicle is a medium sized SUV so it is light and has turbo so it is quick to respond to changes in speed or direction. Consequently, we are concerned about the tires ability to be stable on windy highways and grip the road at higher speeds and when turning corners especially in wet weather. Since this is early spring and winter road damage has not yet been repaired, they are surprisingly smooth when going over rough roads and occasional potholes and uneven roads. They are also well priced for this level of performance.

Noisy, hard tires

After reading all these glowing reviews, wondering if Sam's Club installed a defective set on my car. I was not happy with the OEM Primacy Tours Cadillac chose for my vehicle. Have done extensive research, and had narrowed down to a Pirelli or the Cross Climate 2 a replacement. My priorities were quiet, quiet, and quiet for the replacement tire as I found the Primacy Tours to be extremely noisy. After several discussions with the Sam's associates, they assured me that the Defender2 was the quietest tire. THEY LIED. Within just a few miles of the club, the usual "roaring" was ever present and, in some instances, the "crashing' over expansions joints was worse than the Primacy Tours. These tires are als "squirrely" in that I noticed them following the "groves" in the pavement that the Pimacy Tours ignored. Will be returning these as quickly as I can and having the Pirellis installed. After 50+ years of driving Michelins, its time to break up.

★★★★★ Excellent Tires and Great Installation – Michelin Defender 2 I recently had a set of Michelin Defender 2 tires (255/50R20) installed on my 2014 Ford Explorer at Sam’s Club Tire & Battery Center, and I’m extremely impressed with both the tires and the service. Right away I noticed a huge improvement in ride quality. The Michelin Defender 2 tires ride incredibly smooth and quiet, especially compared to the previous tires I had on my Explorer. Highway driving feels much more stable, and the SUV feels planted and confident even at higher speeds. As someone who works around mechanical equipment and vehicles, I pay attention to build quality and performance. Michelin clearly put serious engineering into these tires. The tread design provides excellent traction, and the tires grip the road very well in both dry and wet conditions. Cornering feels solid and controlled, and braking performance is noticeably improved. Another big plus is the comfort and reduced road noise. My Explorer honestly feels like it got a small suspension upgrade just from installing these tires. The ride is smoother over bumps and rough pavement, which makes daily driving a lot more enjoyable. The team at Sam’s Club in Harvey did a great job with the installation as well. Everything was done professionally, the tires were balanced properly, and the whole process was smooth and efficient. If you drive an SUV like a Ford Explorer with 255/50R20 tires, I highly recommend the Michelin Defender 2. They’re comfortable, durable, quiet, and give you the confidence you want on the road. Combined with the great service at Sam’s Club Harvey, this was absolutely a 5-star experience. Highly recommended. Michelin continues to set the standard for quality tires.

I only buy Michelin tires from an authorized Michelin dealer. The Defender 2 and th Defender LTX are my goto tires. Smooth riding, quiet, traction, and durability are second to none in my book. Also, my local dealer has a lot to do with it as well. Good people, helpful, and I've been dealing with them for a long time.

Bomb-Cyclone / Historic New England Blizzard : NO PROBLEM!

I bought this 'set of four' Michelin Defender2 Tires for my 2008 Nissan Sentra S 4-door sedan. {Which I bought brand new in 2008.} At 2 years I replaced the factory tires with these Michelin tires [ then, faithfully a set of four-at-a-time, thereafter, as needed]. The grip and stability excel in wet OR dry highway driving. Saved me in a few highway "near-misses --THANK GOD!" For an ole lady in a 17+1/2-year-old-car, they rocked-my-socks, in traction during this historic Feb 22 to 24, 2026 Bomb-Cyclone/Blizzard. The leftover snow from the January storm, in my Southeast Massachusetts town became frozen. And the Blizzard dumped another 20+ inches; that covered my Black Sentra; parked in between two other vehicles. After I cleaned the snow, {which had even blown into my tailpipe} cleared snow from the two driver's-side tires & driver's door; clear enough from above the front bumper I was able to climb over the snow pack piled in front of my car. [ Utilizing the ole foot-on-the-brake, inch back & forth 2 or 3 times, until I felt those Defender's grip. Then it was smooth & steady going. I highly recommend these tires; and suggest rotation to extend the wear & durability -- which will extend their life!
