ROAD TECHNOLOGIES

Rubber's characteristics give the tire different performances.
Rubbers can be either Mono-Compound or Bi-Compound.

  • X-Race Compound

    New generation of rubber compounds designed to improve rolling resistance.

  • Race-2 Compound

    New generation of rubber compounds designed to improve rolling resistance.

  • Bi-Compound

    Bi-Compound: Invented by Michelin in 1995, this is a mix of two rubber compounds on the tread providing central rolling efficiency and lateral grip (e.g. MICHELIN Power Endurance which combines Grip Compound and X-Miles Compound).

  • Grip Compound

    A rubber compound developed to provide more grip (Range : MICHELIN Power All Season).

  • X-Miles Compound

    A rubber compound providing abrasion resistance associated to a thicker layer on the crown. Increases durability (Range: MICHELIN Power Endurance).

  • Race Compound

    A rubber compound with a low deformation rate, offering low rolling resistance. Derived from Moto GP technologies, this compound also provides excellent dry grip (Range: MICHELIN Power Competition).

Casings

A tire’s casing is made up of threads, the thickness of which varies according to the tire range, makes it robust, flexible, efficient and lightweight. The more threads there are, the finer they are, making the tire lighter. On the contrary, the less threads there are, the bigger they are, making the tire stronger.
TPI (Threads Per Inch) refers to the density of threads per inch.

Aramid Bead

Beads in aramid that combines strenght and lightness for better security and an easier tyre fitting.

Reinforcements made to improve tire strength.

  • Air Proof Tubeless Ready Technology

    Fitted with sealant, makes the tyre Tubeless compatible at high pressure.

  • Aramid Protek

    Reinforcement in the tire casing to provide strength at the crown and minimize punctures. Aramid is stronger than traditional materials and is much more cut resistant and is the material used for manufacturing body armor.

    High density reinforcement in the tire casing to provide strength at the crown and minimize punctures. Aramid is stronger than traditional materials and is much more cut resistant  and is the material used for manufacturing body armor.

  • Bead 2 Bead Protek

    High-density cross-laid reinforcement protecting the whole tire casing. The crown and sidewalls are reinforced to provide maximum protection and durability (Range: MICHELIN Power Gravel, MICHELIN Pro 4, MICHELIN Krylion2).

Other Technologies

    Tubeless Ready tires can be fitted without an inner tube provided that a tubeless wheel is used, the maximum pressure is not exceeded, sealant is added and the tire pressure is checked before each ride.
