Really can't fault these tyres. They might have been out for ages now but they still rate very highly in media reviews. They are OE on my very rare Vauxhall Insignia B GSi & were used to develop its handling on the Nurburgring & other proving grounds. Fantastic grip in the wet or dry, predictable losx of traction when pushed, plus excellent longevity. The car only has 300bhp & 4WD as & when needed but, it spends most of its time as FWD unless the car feels the need for rear traction. E.g. pulling tighter out of a corner under power etc. On other "cheaper" UHP tyres I would have the fronts down to the legal limit in anything from 5k-7k miles. Now it's around 10k.

I put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires on my F-150, and they completely changed the truck. The grip is insane. From a dig or a roll, power actually sticks instead of spinning. Cornering feels sharp and planted, almost like a sports car, and the floaty truck feel is gone. Ride quality is still smooth, road noise is low, and braking is noticeably stronger. For a street truck build, this is one of the best upgrades you can make. 10/10 — highly recommend.

quality sucks
I had one set of tires and they got excessive inner shoulder wear, alignment was checked 3 times and was spot on. Tire is very sensitive to tire pressure and needs to be over inflated to prevent excessive wear. I got fed up and purchased set of Pilot Sport 5 which i had delivered from Europe. This is much better tire but quality control is lacking. One has excessive road force which can be felt between 62-75 mph, BTW PS4S is made in USA. Looks loke will be switching to other brand but finding good size in sizes I need is impossible

Replacing new car tires
I purchased a new z4 m40i 2 yrs ago. The car is not tracked at all. Isn’t driven in rain or snow. Garage kept. Just had her 2 yr scheduled service and was told the tires need replacing ( feathering & ware). Car has 8700 miles. Why should I put the same tire back on when I replace them? Thank you

Exceptional grip and feel on both wet and dry surfaces. I have been a Conti Contact Sport fan through at least 4 sets of hard driving but these are a step up again - albeit at higher cost. (Cars: 280 bhp Audi A6 diesel Le Mans edition and now 320+ Audi S3)

>> The sizes shown are average design values for tires measured on specified measuring rim widths. Some tires may vary from this value by +/-3% of the section height (affecting overall diameter), and +/-4% of the section width.
>> Section width varies approximately 0.2" (5mm) for every 0.5" change in rim width.
>> Tread patterns are often tuned to accomodate different tire widths. Tires for a particular dimension of a given tireline may vary in appearance from the tire shown in the photograph.
WARNING: Serious or fatal injury may result from tire failure due to underinflation or overloading. To ensure correct air pressure and vehicle load, refer to vehicle owner's manual or tire information placard on the vehicle. Serious injury or death may result from explosion of tire/rim assembly due to improper mounting. Only tire professionals should mount tires and they should never inflate beyond 40 psi to seat the beads. Before mixing types of tires in any configuration on any vehicle, be sure to check the vehicle owner's manual for its recommendations.
DANGER: Never mount a 17" diameter tire on a 17.5" rim.
For high-speed driving, additional inflation pressure and possibly reduced tire loading and/or upsizing is required. In the absence of specific recommendations by the vehicle manufacturer, use the following guidelines based on those in the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization Standards Manual.
For speeds over 160mph (100 mph), load and inflation must be adjusted according to the table below.
Y-Speed Rated Sizes:
| Maximum Speed (mph) | 118 | 124 | 130 | 136 | 143 | 149 | 155 | 161 | 168 | 174 | 180 | 186 |
| Inflation Increase (psi) | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1.5 | 3 | 4.5 | 6 | 7.5 | 7.5 | 7.5 | 7.5 |
| Load Capacity (% of max.) | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 95 | 90 | 85 |
For speeds above 186 mph (300 kph), consult your vehicle manufacturer and tire dealer.
Inflation pressure increase must not exceed the maximum pressure branded on the tire sidewall. Exceeding the lawful speed limit is neither recommended nor endorsed.
