Review Summary

The tires provide good traction, especially in wet conditions, and offer a comfortable and confident ride. However, some customers reported experiencing vibration and noise issues, particularly at higher speeds, though this issue may disappear when the bike is leaned into a turn. Additionally, a few customers noted the tires wore out prematurely, requiring replacement after around 5,000 miles of use.

Once you ride on these tires you will not go back

You cannot go wrong with these tire. They last 30-40K miles, they grip the road like no other and I love how they are not noisy. These are the only tires that I will put on my bike

Love these tires

Compared to the stock Harley Davidson these tires have a whole lot better grip in every condition! They even don't slip on the tar strips!

Tire vibrations

I have approximately 3,000 miles on the tires. Tires perform well. The only complaint I have is there is a vibration at 45 mph…not 44 or 46. It hasn’t affected the performance just an annoyance when I’m in a 45 mph zone. I would have given five stars but with the vibration I could only give 4 stars.

Commander 3 ?!!

These are not!! The same tires as years past! The wear and performance is not the same and also developed a strange wobble in front tire at straight on riding ?! It goes away when leaning not sure if my next set will be Michelin again .

Michelin does not have 150/80/16 commander lll tire in cruise only cruise

I do not like the racing slick smooth on the center of cruise 150/80/16 tire. Racing slick solid smooth with no tread grooves are Terrible traction on tar black snakes on the road, and can not measure the tread depth in the middle. I had No choice ordering the commander lll cruise tire because you do not have 150/80/16 in touring. The tire also had a heavy spot that took lots of weights to balance I will never buy Michelin again

Awesome tires

I went in for Dunlop American. A great tire I ran on for years. A great mistake the Installer made by installing Michelin commanders. I am Very happy. Great tires. Awesome handling.

Got 25,500 miles out of mine

I ride a 2005 1800 Goldwing and put these tires on in May of '22. After 3 years I put on 25,500 miles which included a trip with my wife + cargo on the trailer hitch through all 48 contiguous United States and a trip to Banff Canada from the east coast plus miles back and forth to work. I am very pleased with these tires. I've never had tires last so long on a bike and when the tread finally wore down to the bar, I felt the handling was still great and we never had any problems with them in the rain. Excellent tires. I can't see a time when I'll ever get anything else.

Good results

2012 Harley - Davidson Electra Glide Classic FLHTC. Installed May 18th 2022, Today is May 6th 2025. 36 psi front and 40 psi rear. 1up - average 35 pounds of gear and a 230 pound driver. Tires have clocked 16,105 miles. The front has .065" of tread remaining at its narrowest point center of tire with no significant cupping. The rear has .080" remaining same measurement position. This bike averages 772.3 miles a month mostly in 60 to 90 degree dry weather and altitudes from sea level to 7000+ feet, and have seen colder and wetter days. Handling and stability are excellent. On some western freeways they make noise but in areas that my GMC's truck Goodyear, Jeeps Firestone tires do the same, road not tires? Looking at 20K before replacement. Have ridden Metzler 880's, Metzler 888's, and Pirelli Nite Dragons all replaced around 12K miles. Have a 1990 Harley - Davidson Sport Glide FXRT same baggage and driver that run Michelin Commander II's, Typically see 18,000 miles before replacement with no excessive cupping. Those replaced Metzler 880's because cupping became excessive after 8 to 10K miles and chattered through every turn. The FXRT being the best handling Harley - Davidson ever built, with a lean angle of 41 degrees requires tires that can handle the twisties, they have and they will, for many years to come. Rider since 1972
