Review Summary

The tires provide good traction, especially in wet conditions, and offer a comfortable and confident ride. However, some customers reported experiencing vibration and noise issues, particularly at higher speeds, though this issue may disappear when the bike is leaned into a turn. Additionally, a few customers noted the tires wore out prematurely, requiring replacement after around 5,000 miles of use.

Once you ride on these tires you will not go back

You cannot go wrong with these tire. They last 30-40K miles, they grip the road like no other and I love how they are not noisy. These are the only tires that I will put on my bike

I recommend this tire

These tires last and ride great.

12k miles on a 2019 Road King Special and the tires still look and feel fresh. Much softer than the OEM Dunlops and they don't track into highway grooves like the Dunlops. Very happy with the tires and the "feel" of the tires is very noticeable in the twisties.

More than pleased with this tire.

Holds lines and doesn’t hunt when you cross a groove. Odd slight vibration from the front tire at about 25 mph. Barely noticeable.

Commander Vibrator touring 3s

If you want a straight line buzz in your handlebars from the front tire then these tires are for you! And no, they don't break in and your hand will go numb! The buzz will stay for the life of the tire! What a shame because besides the awful buzz/vibration they are great tires.. They need a recall but the bean counters can't have that. No more Michelins for me!

Hi Pasco, which motorcycle are your riding? Please bring your bike in for inspection at your local dealer. If your motorcycle after inspection by your dealer still vibrates, please reach out to our Consumer Care department at 800-346-4098.

Michelin Commander III -Vibration Going Straight

I thought I was crazy at 1st, but after reading multiple people state the EXACT same issue, I've realized I'm not losing my mind. lol. Per my Mechanic's recommendation, he highly recommended buying the Commander III's since the Commander II's were so great. I bought them and I had my Commander III's put on today, both front and rear. There's a noticeable vibration while going straight on anything above 35-40mph, but the road noise and vibration totally disappear when I lean or turn. It's very strange and isn't normal. The vibration immediately comes back when I'm going straight again. These tires replaced my Dunlop OEM Tires on my CVO Road King, so I sure hope these issues go away. If not, I'm out hundreds of dollars for a less than desirable tire. It's too soon to rate it, but I'm not overly happy with them yet. If the vibration goes away, then that would be great. I would love for someone to get back to me and let me know if there is a resolution for this yet?

Vibration when going straight

My first and last set of Michelins, I wore out the factory Dunlops and put on the Commander 3s. Instantly noticed a vibration in the bars. It goes away at the slightest lean. Center compound might be to hard?? Im not sure if it breaks in or if I will have to replace.

Commander 3 tire is a do not buy

Thought I’d try the new Commander 3 tire. I had been happy with the Commander 2. The front commander 3 vibrates between 60-66 mph. Took back to dealer and they put another new C 3 on front. To get to balance a lot of tire weights installed on both sides of the wheel in one area. Now it has a harmonic distortion 56-61 mph. JP cycle will only send me another tire😡. Going back to Avon cobra tires, great results and had been very happy with the Avon’s. My mistake for trying with the Mitchlens. I should have read more reviews.

A Nice upgrade for Road Glide FLTRK

I've got a thousand miles on these including quite a bit of rainy riding conditions and so far they are a nice upgrade over the Dunlops for me. We ride 2-up 90 percent of the time and put about 20K miles per year on the bike, so I am interested in the longevity. Like the Commander 2's, these are "harder" than OEM tires, but I haven't felt any loss of grip at all. I got 16K miles out of the Dunlop 407s so we'll see how these do with careful air pressure monitoring and lots of touring around hot humid Texas and beyond.

Hi Keyresults, thank you for your review! Glad you are enjoying our MICHELIN Commander III tires! We appreciate your feedback.

buzzy vibration when in straight line

I just picked up my motorcycle from dealer who installed a commander III front. right away a vibration was present in a straight line that disappeared in turns in either direction. I returned to dealer who confirmed what i felt but thought it might get better with miles. i had commander II previously that were superior to the OE dunlops for decreased rolling resistance and noise. after returning home and search internet, i find that this is more common than it should be. i cannot rate as i have few miles on.
