Michelin’s 133-year legacy of innovation not only creates a better way forward, but also a safer way forward. And that goes beyond how we design our tires.
We seek to provide the safest possible equipment while also encouraging a conscientious mindset on the road.
Safety has always been inherent in what we do. Tires are just the start.
1920s
Improved road handling, braking and longevity, guaranteed to perform "until completely worn".
1930s
The Michelin Stop tire delivered skid-resistance even on wet roads, until completely worn out.
1946
Michelin first patented radial tires, improving safety, mileage and treadlife.
1980s & 90s
Michelin invented angled siping, delivering impressive grip, traction and stability on slippery roads.
2015
Michelin called on all 50 states to include consistent tire safety info in Drivers' Ed materials by 2020.
2017
Ladoux tested worn tires for wet and dry braking, lateral grip and rolling resistance, and confirmed Michelin tires are designed for lasting performance.
2020
Michelin launched the CrossClimate2 tire with innovative thermal adaptive tread compound making it a true All-Season performer.

We’ve developed an engaging driver safety program in partnership with The Sims video game as a part of an effort to train new drivers across all 50 states.
