Defender LTX M/S 2 TIRE REVIEW

Incredible all around performance

I drove 102,000 miles on my previous set, rotated every 10k, pushed them a bit further than I should have, down to 2/32 at best. I will never buy anything other than these tires, just replaced the OEM Bridgestones on my 2021 Grand Cherokee L, 63,000 on those. I’m hoping for 90k to 100k from the Defender M/S2 that I just put on. Anyone saying these tires are loud has vehicle issues. New Michelins compared to the roar from OEM Bridgestone is like the difference between a football stadium when they score, to a night in the Arizona desert.

Lots of Lost mileage!

Back in May of 2019 I purchased a full set of 4 - 235/55R19 Michelin Defender LTX tires for our Ford Flex. I'd always been comfortable with Michelin tires for the quality of their construction and safe handling while driving. I also bought them for their mileage warranty! These came with a 65,000 miles guarentee! As of today Saturday 10/25/2025 my vehicle mileage is 89,497, and when I purchased these tires my mileage was approximately 05/09/2019 was 63,067 leaving a total mileage on the tires is only 26,430. My tires are in need of replacement "NOW", as they're only an 1/8th of an inch or less from reaching the wear indicaters in the tires, and the requiring new tires.

Honest Review for Michelin Defender 2

I’ve driven about 30,000 miles on these tires, and while tread life and traction are excellent, the noise is absolutely unbearable. From day one, the road noise has been loud, droning, and constant — it doesn’t matter if I’m on a smooth highway, backroad, or city street. The sound fills the cabin and never stops. They’ve worn evenly and still have tons of tread left, but I honestly can’t take it anymore. Nobody wants to ride with me and it gives my daughter instant headaches. For a tire that’s marketed as quiet, this has been the complete opposite experience.

Tires are great but extremely disappointed in the rebate process. It feels like an empty promise because the upload requirements have proven to be impossible for me to achieve. This will give me pause next time tires are purchased.

Horrendous Roar and Vibration

I purchased these tires for my 2023 Grand Wagoneer on 6/3/2025 from a local retailer replacing the Pirelli's that were the OEM. From the time I drove away, the road noise and vibration from these tires made me turn around and go back to the retailer and advise that something was wrong. The retailer road with me and advised that I needed to drive the car a little while and if the problems continued to bring it back. I drove for approximately 3 weeks and noise and vibration continued. I returned to the retailer and they ordered an entire new set and replaced them. I drove off again with the same issue. I did not return to this retailer. On 9/15/2025 I took the vehicle to the Jeep dealer and paid $180.00 for a road force balance. This seemed to help for a bit but the vibration and the noise (roaring) has returned. I now have approximately 12900 miles on the second set of these tires and the roaring noise and the vibration continues and at times is worst than ever. I am hopeful that I can wear these tires out soon so that I can replace them with something else. I am very disappointed as I am a very faithful Michelin tire purchaser.
