Comments about X-Ice:

These are the best studless tires rated for ice that we've ever owned. Out her in Spokane, Washington, we get a continuous thaw / freeze cycle throughout the winter. It seems like every morning we are fighting icy roads.

My wife HATES the icy roads. So, I tried to hook her up with the best available winter vehicle that I could.

              Solution
Vehicle - An All-wheel drive (Subaru Outback)
Tires - Michelin X-ice on their own rims.

Mission accomplished. My wife drives with confidence now. Our 1.5 mile trip up/down a steep hill, is no hill for this woman. Finally, a tire worthy of my wife's expectations.

This is the 2nd or 3rd set I've bought for my 2005 Rav4. We live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains and drive on icy mountain roads frequently in the winter. I have not had a slipping problem with these tires. I watched a Nissan Pathfinder slide off the road in front of me on Hwy 88 just after the Cal-Trans had pulled him out of the snow bank. I drove over the same road without incident. I wouldn't use anything else for winter driving.

                          Comments about X-Ice:

I replaced the factory tires on my 2008 Prius at 32,700 mi in the fall of 2009 with a set of X-Ice 205/55R16 Winter tires. They are one size larger, but that was all that was available from my dealer at that time. Well, after 3 years and 57,000 miles later, its been a wonderful "year-round" ride with gas mileage usually in the mid forties. I have 89,800 miles on the car now, so its time to replace them, but this time I'm trying to buy a set of X-Ice3 of the factory recommended size, 195/55R-16/XL. We'll see if they perform as well as these have. This experience says a whole lot for X-Ice quality, comfort, wear and handling as an all-season tire for a Prius Touring car.

                          • You need to know your vehicle's options to find out the original size of the tires for your vehicle because automobile manufacturers often use different wheel and tire sizes for different variations of a specific vehicle.

If you do not know your vehicle's options, check one of these places:

1. The original sales invoice or window sticker when you bought the vehicle.

2. Your vehicle's Owner's Manual, which will sometimes identify your vehicle's options.

3. Look on the vehicle itself. Some vehicles have a decal or lettering that indicates the options located on the side or rear of the vehicle.
                          • Find the exact tire quickly using your tire size. Check your owner's manual or tire sidewall to find the required specifications.

Knowing your tire size can help save time at the tire retailer. It also enables you to make an informed tire purchase.

You can find your vehicle's original equipment tire size in one of the following places:
1. • You can determine your tire type by looking at the tire's designation on the sidewall of your tire. The following describes the differences between the tire type designations:

P-Metric: A uniform designation of tire sizes in metric measurements. A typical P-Metric tire is P205/70R14 93S.

European Metric: This system was a conversion of the numeric system from inches to millimeters. The aspect ratio appears in the size designation in most cases where it is other than 82. A typical European Metric tire is 185/70R14 88S

Light Truck-Metric: This system is used for light truck tires, and it mirrors the P-Metric system used for passenger tires. A typical LT-Metric tire is LT245/75R16 120R.

Light Truck High Flotation: This type is for light truck tires with lower sidewalls and wider treads that yield better traction on surfaces such as sand and soft soil found in watery, off-road situations. A typical tire is 31X10.50R15 LT LRC
