Bomber

              Comments about XPS Traction:

I used these on a '97 F350 I drove in the Oil Fields of Wyoming.

They were bomber tires. I drove them hard on rough cut industrial roads all day long. I did get one slow leak once in two years, other than that no problems. I don't know of anyone else who ran as trouble free.

I usually ran 75psi in each. I had 4000lbs on each axle. I once noticed a bit of sidewall bulge that I then had to double check another tire to be certain of. That low tire was down to 10psi. These steel sidewalls are stiff.
And in case you don't know what "steel casing" means, while most tires have steel belts under the tread and nylon in the sidewalls, these have two steel sidewall belts, in addition to the 10 under the tread. It's gonna take a saw, time, and dedication to get through those sidewalls.

For as rugged as they were, they did seem to chunk up a lot. Other than tread block tears though, they wore incredibly well. Another guy who owned these tires raved about how well the blocks stand up to rough use, so it might have been me and my predeliction to heading into rocky trails that tore mine.

Interstate travel I was stunned. They rode smooth as glass. Quiet. For the off road performance these things have, I can't imagine anything else can get near these things for on road.

Off road they worked really well. I took that pickup I owned and loved places other people wouldn't take someone else's work truck. ATVers would be surprised to see me places. I've never owned a mudder tire, but to rock and dirt these stuck better than any all-terrain I've ever had.

In snow they weren't very good, and on ice they sucked. There was one time I blazed a trail in 2 feet of fresh snow on top of old packed snow, w nary a wheel spin. Another time I drove 60 miles of emergency-closed backroads during a blizzard w/o much worry and zero problems, so I'm not talking horrible in snow. But on ice, I was running 8000lbs, those are skinny tires, and I had to be gentler w the pedals than anything else I've ever been on.

I put 30K of hard travel on mine. Tread wear seemed to be about half way to the bars. Only reason I got rid of them was I left the oil field, moved to AZ, and wanted LTX-MSs. I gave them to a fellow for his horse trailer, and he teared up.

I define these as the ultimate ranch tire. If you've got dirt road and long hwy travel to do and don't want a rough ride or to be listening to drone, plus lots of stuff where there aren't any roads and don't want to be changing tires, get these. Especially if you carry a lot of weight. They are like semi tires for your pickup. Pay the price for these upfront, and be really happy for a long time.

                          Comments about XPS Traction:

I have run these on an F350 4wd for 14 years. Highway driving is where these tires like to be. I get extraordinary mileage over the road. They run at a little over ambient temperature, and are run at about 75 to 80 % of max inflation. Wear is very even at this pressure.
In the city and short commutes, these tires wear faster than normal. They get torn up quick off road. They are too soft for extreme off road work, but they can handle anything else with the steel belted side walls.
I've only had one returned for warranty because it would not seal with a tire plug.
I have been running Michelin tires on everything I own for over 40 years. Never been disappointed.

                          • You need to know your vehicle's options to find out the original size of the tires for your vehicle because automobile manufacturers often use different wheel and tire sizes for different variations of a specific vehicle.

If you do not know your vehicle's options, check one of these places:

1. The original sales invoice or window sticker when you bought the vehicle.

2. Your vehicle's Owner's Manual, which will sometimes identify your vehicle's options.

3. Look on the vehicle itself. Some vehicles have a decal or lettering that indicates the options located on the side or rear of the vehicle.
                          • Find the exact tire quickly using your tire size. Check your owner's manual or tire sidewall to find the required specifications.

Knowing your tire size can help save time at the tire retailer. It also enables you to make an informed tire purchase.

You can find your vehicle's original equipment tire size in one of the following places:
1. • You can determine your tire type by looking at the tire's designation on the sidewall of your tire. The following describes the differences between the tire type designations:

P-Metric: A uniform designation of tire sizes in metric measurements. A typical P-Metric tire is P205/70R14 93S.

European Metric: This system was a conversion of the numeric system from inches to millimeters. The aspect ratio appears in the size designation in most cases where it is other than 82. A typical European Metric tire is 185/70R14 88S

Light Truck-Metric: This system is used for light truck tires, and it mirrors the P-Metric system used for passenger tires. A typical LT-Metric tire is LT245/75R16 120R.

Light Truck High Flotation: This type is for light truck tires with lower sidewalls and wider treads that yield better traction on surfaces such as sand and soft soil found in watery, off-road situations. A typical tire is 31X10.50R15 LT LRC
