Great Tires for Wet Roads and Not-Roads

        By 2007 FJ Cruiser

          Cons

              Comments about LTX A/T2:

I got these tires after I decided my BFG KOs needed to be replaced. I did a lot of research and felt these would be a great follow up to those tires. Good off-road tread with a little refinement. Reviews said the handled well in most conditions, lasted long, and rode smoothly.

For starters, the LTX A/T2s do have nice aggressive pattern. Definitely more off-road-looking and less car-looking than some "truck" tires.

I would say on most counts the tires performed fabulously. Wet Roads (get lots of rain here): I don't know if I could MAKE these tires break loose. I am a fairly aggressive driver, I did some hard turning and hard breaking just to test it, and the tires held true. My FJ never flinched at anything less than swim worthy puddles, and wet curves never produced any noticeable slide. I even took it off into some hilly fields, with some fairly steep wet grassy hills, and again, extremely confidence inspiring.

Despite all this, Mud is the Achilles heel. Without locking in my center, rear and ATC, I would have been stuck in an otherwise shallow mud pit.

This and small rocks. While the rocks are not a traction issue, I could not drive on any gravel road, driveway, or parking lot without having half a dozen tiny rocks get stuck in the groves of the tires that will not dislodge without me prying them out or until I am on the highway doing at least 70.

Moral of the Story: GREAT all around tire, if you don't plan major off road excursions. In which case stick with BFGs. That is what I am doing, thanks for the 30 day guarantee Michelin. Need something a little more. Going with the KO2s

                    Comments about LTX A/T2:

These were probably the best tires I have owned.. I got nearly over 80,000 miles out of them.. Sadly, Michelin no longer carries these in the P235/65/R17 size so off to another option from a Michelin competitor.

I got these tires 6 years ago and they never let me down. I use my truck for heavy loads or hauling things around and have never had anything go wrong. What I love the most is the Nitrogen added to the tires instead of air. I don't have to fill my tires for every heavy load I put in my truck.
