        Wear Life a bummer

              Comments about Energy Saver A/S:

A bit more pricey than the Defenders, I got these because of the supposed fuel efficiency two years ago. I am not sure if they do what they claim, but after 64K miles, I have been warned I need a new set of tires. When I bought them I thought I would be good for at least 90K (I'm pretty sure the guy told me that at the Toyota dealership). So, they were nice tires, I didn't think they made much noise, drove well, maybe were fuel efficient, but didn't last as long as I would hope for a pricier tire!

Had only 22,800 miles and just blew apart driving on interstate. Wouldn't even pro-rate the tire if I bought a new one. It has changed my mind about Michelin. I bought another brand for less than half for the Michelin. They told me the tire I bought wasn't as good as a Michelin. I told them I bet I get more than 23,000 miles out of it! No one wanted to take me up on it!

P215/65R17 on a Dodge Charger- these are good tires as long as the weather is DRY. They ride good, are reasonably quiet and handle OK for a standard passenger car tire.

But when the road gets wet they change dramatically. During a shower today, I had to run 15 MPH slower than everyone else on the road, or fight the car from one side of the lane to the other. These tires- admittedly not new but with substantial tread remaining- readily hydroplane as if they are nearly slick.

The tires still look good, and have what appears to be ample tread. But I will take them off as soon as I can afford to do so. And I will probably cut the sidewalls to prevent someone else from getting the same rude awaking I did.
