        Out of round

        By John

        Comments about Latitude Tour:

After great results with 2 sets of Michelin's Cross Terrains, I ordered and had put on 4 new Latitude tours for my SUV. Took out on road and got bad shimmy. Took back and had balancer recalibrated and then tires rebalanced. Didn't work. Had 4 more delivered. It was obvious that what was reshipped was also out of round by watching them rotate on the balancer but balanced them anyway and put them on. Same problem. Reluctantly moved to MXVs which are ok. I have to conclude that Michelin's quality control process is broken. Not a pleasant experience.

              Comments about Latitude Tour:

I have had the Latitude Tour All Season Luxury tires on my SUV for 3 years and they did everything they were supposed to do at all times. That is they do not slip in the rain. This winter I got caught in a snow storm, I was able to pass most drivers at about 30 miles per hour. (they were going 10mph).
Dealer always rotated the tires as they were supposed to. The only bad thing about the tire is that they can not be repaired if two holes appear within 15 inches. But thats true about all tires. So then I guess there is nothing bad about the tires. One more thing. The road hazzard warrantee kicked in and although all was prorated......... Dealer made me one happy happy driver. ( thought I would say Camper).

                    Comments about Latitude Tour:

My purchase criteria include reliability, safety, comfort, mileage and price. I've run Michelins on my Honda's for many years. My last set had one incident...a slow leak from a screw at night about 15 miles from home. I noticed my TPMS light was on and I checked the tires pressure...25 psi. I drove it to a nearby gas station, increased the pressure then drove home. I lost some air overnight but made it to my tire dealer the next day and got a free repair. These treads lasted 74,000 miles and had some left. What a great value! Thanks Michelin!
