Michelin's New Defender® Tire Boasts 90,000 Mile Warranty

Low rolling resistance has become the new clarion call from car manufacturers hoping to eke out every last 1/10th of a mile per gallon for EPA ratings, but Michelin's new Defender tire takes a different tack, claiming the highest mileage warranty yet: 90,000 clicks, up to 21,000 more miles than competitors.

Pennies On The Mile: Michelin® Defender® Tires Aim to Save the Fuel, Last 90,000 Miles

Typically, if it’s not super-sticky, high-performance rubber, we’re not all that excited when new tires come out. But Michelin has some interesting ideas in the Defender, and if the tires can truly last up to 90,000 miles in the real world, the company might raise an eyebrow or two.

My name is Catherine I have a 2004 BMW 325I that came with Michelin Tires. It now has 94,657 miles on it and it has the original tires. I will be replacing the tires with nothing but Michelin Defender 90,000 mile tires.

                Comments about Defender:

Tire rides great, looks great, but the wear is not great. I only got 30,000 miles out of these tires but the good thing was with the 90,000 mile warranty most of the new set was prorated off. I put another set on as the ride is good on these tires. Not sure why they didnt last that long so maybe just a bad set. Will see how new set works.

                      Comments about Defender:

well i run a pilot car service. I have bought the michelin defenders. until having a blow out was somewhat ok with their tire.
the last few day have been dealing with their warranty program. if your driving your car they have none. what i was told by two of their reps than any time im driving my car and a tire blows out that is considered a road hazard which michelin does not have to cover. on a tire that is two months old.
so too have a warranty on their tire it must be standing still when it blows! i have many miles under my belt i yet have not found a way to stop with out scuffing a tire from 65 mph too keep it from doing more damage to the tire.

there for I would not recomond any one buy or use these tires Michelin does not stand behind their tires!!!
